Sex Workers, Erotic Dancers, and Sex Industry Professionals
Sex as an industry is not going away any time soon. Nude dancing is a career that pays well if you can do it. Escorting, prostitution, and sex-for-pay are known as the oldest profession. People have been making money doing sexy things in front of and to audiences since there have been audiences to participate. Society denies it for many reasons, however, denial of this reality does not change it. People make money off sex, and if that is your job, you deserve respect, too. There is no reason to treat sex workers differently than any other workers.
Unfortunately, many sex workers suffer from depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions without treating them, due to the stigma of their occupation. To make matters worse, this occupation is rife with emotional, financial, and physical abuse, addictions, grief, and many other situations which lead to more mental health disorders. If you can’t be honest about your daily profession, your ability to process and overcome your daily emotional hurdles is stifled, too.
Don’t suffer in silence. If you work in the local erotic entertainment industry, you do have access to quality mental health care. I care, I understand your plight, and I’m willing to understand who you are without your occupation getting in the way.
